What a dryer vent inspection actually involves

The dryer gets pulled out first. We look at the transition duct behind it. In shallow Scottsdale laundry closets that piece is usually crushed flat against the wall, and it is often the original foil or vinyl flex left in from the build. Then the termination gets checked from outside: roof jack, garage side wall, or soffit. A camera goes up the run where access allows. Airflow is measured at the hood, not guessed at from how warm the laundry room feels.

Attic runs hide the worst of it. Flex sags between joists and the low point collects lint. Fine desert dust binds with that lint into a hard gray mat. It does not brush off like fluff. Roof terminations add their own problems: flappers stuck open, blown dust packed in, sparrow and finch nests, pigeon debris.
